Belgaum: On April 18, a group attacked a college student in Belgaum and this incident came to light late. A college student was assaulted by a group of unidentified youths for taking his classmate, a girl from a different community, on his two-wheeler.
A first-year BA student at Lingaraj College, Belgaum, filed a complaint at the APMC police station for assaulting her friend from a different community. Belgaum police have arrested seven persons in connection with this case.
He has a friend from the Hindu community in college. He knows his family and friend’s parents well. On her request, he gave her a lift to the college on his two-wheeler. Even after the classes were over, she had to be dropped home, she said in the complaint.
Both were on their way home from college when a group of youths in a car intercepted them on the road. He questioned why he was taking the young Muslim woman on a bike. Both the victim and his girlfriend have tried to say that their respective families are acquaintances. However, the group, not ready to listen to him, assaulted the youth and abused him with unspeakable words. He threatened to kill the young woman if he met her again and fled from there.
